Karman Kaur Thandi’s fine run of winning eight singles matches without dropping a set was brought to a halt as she was beaten 6-2, 6-1 by Yuxuan Zhang of China in the semifinals of the $25,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament in China on Saturday.
The third-seeded Karman bowed to the second seed this time, after having beaten her in three sets in their only previous meeting in Luan, China, in May.
The 20-year-old Karman, ranked a career-best 225, had won the last tournament in Hong Kong for her maiden singles title in the professional circuit.
