Karunuday Singh beat top seed Li Zhe of China in the first round of the $25,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament in Hong Kong on Tuesday.

Karunuday led 7-6(1) when the Chinese retired before the start of the second set.

In the ITF women’s event in Portugal, qualifier Mihika Yadav battled past Lauren Proctor of the US 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 in the first round.
