Leander Paes, in partnership with Adil Shamasdin of Canada, sailed into the doubles semifinals with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Stefan Kozilov of the U.S. and Igor Sijsling of the Netherlands in the $75,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Mexico on Thursday.
In the semifinals, the third seeded Paes and partner are scheduled to play the Aussies Luke Saville and John-Patrick Smith, who had put out the top seeds Purav Raja and Divij Sharan in the first round.
Prarthana Thombare and partner Eva Wacanno of the Netherlands made the doubles final of the $25,000 ITF women’s event in Italy. Natasha Palha lost the singles quarterfinal and the doubles semifinals in the ITF women’s event in Egypt.
