Leander Paes wins second Challenger of the season

Leander Paes, in partnership with Andre Begemann of Germany, beat top seeds Andrej martin of Slovakia and Hans Podlipnik-Castillo of Chile 6-4, 6-4 in the doubles final of the €85,000 men’s Challenger tennis tournament in Italy on Saturday.

It was the second Challenger doubles title this season for the former World No.1 Paes, following the one in Busan with Sam Groth. The title was worth €5250 and 110 ATP points.

In the Lexington Challenger, Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Ramkumar Ramanathan bowed out in the semifinals, collecting $1080 and 29 ATP points.

Rishab Agarwal did very well to make the singles final in the $10,000 ITF men’s Futures event in Vietnam, and will face top seed Seong Chan Hong, the Korean Davis Cupper, who blew away Sasi Kumar Mukund for the loss of two games.

In the ITF women’s event in Egypt, Dhruthi Venugopal beat compatriot Sri Vaishnavi Peddi Reddy to reach the semifinals, while Shweta Rana in partnership with Eleni Kordolaimi of Greece made the doubles final.

$10,000 ITF men, Thu Dau Mot City, Vietnam

Singles (semifinals): Seong Chan Hong (Kor) bt Sasi Kumar Mukund 6-0, 6-2; Rishab Agarwal bt Renta Tokuda (Jpn) 6-1, 6-4.

$10,000 ITF women, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt

Singles (quarterfinals): Dhruthi Venugopal bt Sri Vaishnavi Peddi Reddy 6-4, 6-1.
