Saketh Myneni bounced back from a slow start to beat 17-year-old Lee Duck-Hee of Korea 1-6, 7-6(3), 6-4 in the first qualifying round of the French Open at Roland Garros on Monday.
The 28-year-old Saketh, ranked 141, had beaten the talented Korean in the Anning Challenger in China recently in straight sets. He was returning to the circuit in Paris after a shoulder injury.
However, the other Indian in the fray, Ramkumar Ramanathan was beaten 6-3, 6-3 by Matthew Barton of Australia in the first qualifying round.
The 21-year-old Ramkumar, ranked a career-best 199 as he jumped 41places in the latest list, had lost to Barton in a Futures event in Spain in 2011. He collected €3000 for his first round exit in the qualifying draw.
