A wrist injury shattered Rafael Nadal's hopes of winning the French Open for the tenth time.

Rafael Nadal remains a doubt for Wimbledon with his coach and uncle, Toni, admitting there is no date scheduled for his return.

A wrist injury forced Nadal to pull out of the French Open ahead of his third-round match against Marcel Granollers, the world number four revealing he had a painkilling injection to see him through his prior match against Facundo Bagnis.

The Spaniard subsequently withdrew from the Queen's Club Championships and his coach insists he will not take part at Wimbledon unless he is "100 per cent".

"He is in the rehabilitation phase," said Toni Nadal.

"We haven't fixed a date for his return because the important thing is that he returns at full strength. He will return when the doctors are convinced that all is going well. He won't play unless he's 100 per cent."

Nadal, a two-time Wimbledon champion, missed the chance to retain his gold medal at the Olympic Games in London in 2012 through injury.
