Dakshineswar Suresh won both the boys singles and doubles titles, and Akanksha A. Bhan both the girls titles, in the adidas-MCC National junior U-18 championship at the SDAT tennis stadium here on Saturday.

In singles, Suresh beat Abhimanyu Vannemreddy 6-2, 6-4 and Bhan beat Shivani Manjanna 6-0, 6-3.

In the first set, Suresh took a 3-0 lead and won it 6-2. Vannemreddy failed to break twice in the first game of the second set. He failed again at 3-all, with an unforced error. Suresh went ahead 4-3, with a forehand cross-court winner. After Vannemreddy held his serve next, he committed four unforced errors on the forehand - two on serve-return, and two after short rallies - for Suresh to take a 5-4 lead. Pressure seemed to have got the better of him in the next game, as Suresh took the set 6-4.

In the girls section, Bhan took the first set easily, 6-0. Manjanna played better in the second set, and it was 3-all at one point. But then, Bhan won three games in a row and took the title. Both the doubles finals were decided on tie-break.
