Tennis great Martina Navratilova will partner India’s champion player Leander Paes in a mixed doubles exhibition match against the reigning World No. 1 in women’s doubles, Sania Mirza, and Mahesh Bhupathi at the Sania Mirza Tennis Academy, near here, on November 26.

According to Imran Mirza, father-cum-coach of Sania, the match is part of the promotional tour planned as a prelude to the second season of the IPTL.

“We are proud to host this event in Hyderabad, especially after Sania’s dream run this year that saw her win 10 titles including the Wimbledon and the U.S. Open doubles titles,” Imran pointed out.

“This is another step in promoting tennis in India and is certain to inspire the promising youngsters aspiring to become world beaters from this part of the globe.”

Imran also reminded that both the pairs had won two Grand Slam mixed doubles titles each - Paes and Martina had claimed the Australian Open and Wimbledon (both in 2003), while Sania and Mahesh had won the Australian Open (2009) and the French Open (2012).

“This should be a great opportunity for not just the trainees at the Academy but also for all the tennis players in the city to pick up a few finer aspects of the game by watching these big achievers,” said Imran.
