Paes-Begemann ease into St. Petersburg quarters

Indian tennis ace Leander Paes and his German partner Andre Begemann have booked their place in the quarterfinals of the St. Petersburg Open after clinching straight sets victories in the men’s doubles event here on Thursday.

Indian tennis ace Leander Paes and his German partner Andre Begemann have booked their place in the quarterfinals of the St. Petersburg Open after clinching straight sets victories in the men’s doubles event here on Thursday.

The Indo-German pair brushed aside Serbian duo of Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki 6-2, 6-4 in the last 16 contest.

With the win, Paes and Begemann have now set up a clash against the Indian duo of Purav Raja and Divij Sharan, who made it to the last eight following a 6-4, 6-4 win over Argentine—Chinese pair of Andres Molteni and Hans Podlipnik-Castill.
