Ramkumar Ramanathan was beaten 7-6(5), 7-6(3) by Daniel Brands of Germany in the second qualifying round for Wimbledon at Roehampton on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old Ramkumar, ranked 231 in the world, had fought his way past Marek Michalicka of the Czech Republic 7-5, 6-7(2), 6-4 in the first round.

The other Indian in the men’s singles qualifying event, Saketh Myneni was beaten 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-1, by Tristan Lamasine of France in the first round.

In the men’s doubles qualifying event, Purav Raja and Divij Sharan, seeded fourth in a draw of 16, were drawn to play Dustin Brown and Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany.
