Ramkumar loses in Indian Wells qualifiers, Prajnesh advances in Mexico

Ramkumar lost 2-6, 6-3, 4-6 to 17th seed and 124th ranked Liam Broady in the opening qualifying round of the hard court event.

Seventh seed Prajnesh Gunneswaran beat wild card Ryan Harrison of the US 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of the ATP Challenger tournament in Mexico.

In the pre-quarterfinals, Prajnesh is scheduled to play Alex Rybakov of US.

In the $25,000 ITF women’s tournament in Australia, qualifiers Pranjala Yadlapall and Rutuja Bhosale made it to the singles pre-quarterfinals, while Ankita Raina found the top seed Arina Rodionova of Australia too hot for comfort.

Ramkumar Ramanathan's winless run against Liam Broady continued as the Indian Davis Cupper suffered his fourth straight defeat against the Briton to bow out of the Indian Wells Masters' qualifying event.

Ranked 170, Ramkumar came into the tournament after wining both his singles in the Davis Cup tie against Denmark.

He lost 2-6, 6-3, 4-6 to 17th seed and 124th ranked Broady in the opening qualifying round of the hard court event.
