Ramkumar, Prajnesh bow out from China Challenger

Fourth seeded Ramkumar was tamed 6-2, 7-5 by the former world No.72, Aleksandr Nedovyesov of Kazakhstan while Prajnesh was beaten 6-4, 6-3 by third Quentin Halys of France.

Davis Cuppers Ramkumar Ramanathan and Prajnesh Gunneswaran were beaten in the singles quarterfinals of the $50,000 Challenger tennis tournament in China on Friday.

Fourth seeded Ramkumar was tamed 6-2, 7-5 by the former world No.72, Aleksandr Nedovyesov of Kazakhstan while Prajnesh was beaten 6-4, 6-3 by third Quentin Halys of France.

The quarterfinal appearance fetched 15 ATP points and $1460.

In the $100,000 Challenger in Sarasota, Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Purav Raja were beaten in the doubles quarterfinals by Luke Bambridge and Jonny O’Mara of Britain.

In the ITF women’s event in Egypt, Sai Samhitha made the semifinals. She led 7-5, 2-2 against Julia Terziyska of Bulgaria when the latter retired. However, Julia went on to win the doubles semifinals in partnership with Alicia Barnett of Britain against Kanika Vaidya and Fatma Al Nabhani.

In Kazakhstan, Pranjala Yadlapalli was beaten in the semfiinals by the seventh seed Varvara Fllink of Russia.
