Novak Djokovic maintained his perfect record against Gael Monfils with a straight sets win in the Rogers Cup semifinals. The World No. 1 had won all 11 previous meetings against the in-form Monfils and he added another with a 6-3, 6-2 thrashing in Toronto.

Djokovic, who scraped past Tomas Berdych in the last eight, was in much better form on Saturday.

The Serbian, a three-time champion of the ATP 1000 event, needed just 73 minutes to book a meeting with Kei Nishikori in the decider.

Djokovic mixed 12 winners with 16 unforced errors, dominating what was an entertaining match to reach the Rogers Cup final for a fifth time.

Monfils, who came into the encounter on a nine-match winning streak, made a decent start, breaking in the third game.

But he immediately let that slip and Djokovic made him pay, winning five of the set's last six games.

There was no way back for the Frenchman, whose miserable record against Djokovic continued.
