Leander Paes may have predicted a Grand Slam title for Saketh Myneni after the stupendous performance against the Olympic champions Rafael Nadal and Marc Lopez in the Davis Cup World Group play-off, but Saketh Myneni is sensible not to let the excitement get the better of him.

The 28-year-old Saketh, who is ranked 138 in both singles and doubles this week, was at the DLTA Complex watching his "brothers" play in the national championship, as he was strengthening his troublesome shoulder.

"I decided to take three weeks off after Davis Cup. I have to be careful. I am glad that my shoulder managed to hold good in the US Open and the Davis Cup", said Saketh, quite proud to have put up a good performance, even in the singles against David Ferrer.

Of course, the fleet-footed Ferrer was too good in the second singles against Saketh, dropping a mere four games in all in three sets, but Saketh said that each game was an education for him, as the Spaniard could consistently take off at 30-30.

"I will be playing the Challengers in Vietnam and China over the next two weeks before the one in Pune. That is the plan", said Saketh, not ready to look too far ahead.

Apart from focusing on training, Saketh also did not fancy travelling to Uzbekistan with its limited connectivity, before China, and thus decided to delay his return to the professional circuit.

Apart from watching his friends play, Saketh would also be utilising the time to train with Sanam Singh so that he can give a push to break into the top-100.

"In Vietnam, I am defending points", Saketh pointed out, as he had won the singles title in the Ho Chi Minh City Challenger last year and had made the doubles final with Sanam Singh.

When reminded about the offer from Leander Paes that he would be happy to play doubles with him on the professional circuit, Saketh was polite in stating that he had to first improve his rank to be somewhere near 60 of Paes, to be able to think of having a fruitful partnership with the legend who is running strong at 43.

Saketh Myneni is in no hurry to break into the big league, but is happy to make steady progress, preserving his body along the way.
