Simona Halep clinched the Bucharest Open WTA title with a 6-0, 6-0 thrashing of Latvia's Anastasija Sevastova. This was Halep's second title of the season; the 24-year-old also triumphed on clay in Madrid.

"I think I've never won 6-0, 6-0 in a WTA event," said Halep.

"I knew she was a tough adversary and I never dreamt of winning this way. Today I think I was more solid, I fought for every ball, I was aggressive and I managed to finish the points very quick."

A couple of days earlier, Halep had pulled out of the Rio Olympics citing fears of the Zika virus.
