Sumit Nagal beat Roberto Ortega-Olmedo of Spain 7-5, 6-4 to reach the semifinals of the Samarkand Challenger tennis tournament in Uzbekistan, on Friday.

In the semifinals, Sumit will play Joao Menezes of Brazil.

Meanwhile, the doubles semifinals of second seeds Sriram Balaji and Jonathan Erlich of Israel was rescheduled for Saturday, in the Challenger in Gwangju, Korea.

In the $25,000 ITF women’s event in Singapore, two-time National champion Riya Bhatia was beaten 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 in the quarterfinals by Beatrice Gumulya of Indonesia.

Rutuja Bhosale made the doubles final with a fighting 14-12 victory in the super tie-break in partnership with Abigail Tere-Apisah of Papua New Guinea.

The third seeds will challenge the top seeded Indonesian pair of Beatrice Gumulya and Jessy Rompies in the final.

In the ITF men’s Futures in Uganda, Aryan Goveas went down fighting in three sets to third seed Guy Orly Iradukunda of Burundi.
