Sania Mirza and Barbora Strycova went down to top-seeds Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic in the women's doubles quarterfinals of the US Open in New York.

The seventh seeds fought hard in the first set but lost it 6-7. But their French opponents dominated the second, winning it 6-1.

Sania was the only Indian left in the last Grand Slam of the year after Rohan Bopanna and Leander Paes ended their campaigns.
