In a recent cleaning spree, former World No.1 Andy Roddick had decided to throw away almost all the trophies from his closet. In an interview, Roddick’s wife Brooklyn Decker said that the tennis ace was busy cleaning up his house in Austin, Texas, when he thought of throwing away all the trophies he won in his career.

“It was really upsetting,” The Guardian quoted Decker telling People magazine in an interview. “He did it one day when I was out of town. (He) decided that these don’t mean success to me, these don’t define me and I don’t really care to have these material things sitting around the house, so he threw them in the trash. I think he saved a few but they are not on display,” Decker added.

The American tennis champion shot to stardom at the age of 21 with his breakthrough win at Flushing Meadows in 2003 and later on finished that season atop the ATP rankings.

The 36-year-old retired from tennis in 2012 after winning 32 titles over his 12-year career. However, he kept the US Open trophy, which is temporarily on display at the Tennis Hall of Fame.

“We have his US Open trophy,” the model-turned-actress said. “But all his other trophies Andy threw away in the garbage.” Roddick and Decker married in 2009 and welcomed their first child, Hank, in September 2015.
