Wimbledon: Day five in pictures

Five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Willliams defeated Japan's Naomi Osaka 7-6 (7/3), 6-4 in the third round. Venus, at 37, became the oldest woman to reach the fourth round of the tournament since 1994.

French Open champion Rafael Nadal looked completely in control as he swept past Russian Karen Khachanov in their third round encounter. Nadal won 6-1, 6-4, 7-6 to qualify for the last 16, where he will face 16th seeded Gilles Muller.

Gilles Muller, the 16th seed, beat Britain's Aljaz Bedene 7-6(4) 7-5 6-4 to reach the fourth round for the first time in 10 appearances at Wimbledon.

Kei Nishikori suffered fresh Wimbledon misery as the Japanese star crashed to a shock third round exit against Roberto Bautista Agut.

Second seed Simona Halep brought her A game to defeat China's Peng Shuai 6-4 7-6(7) on Friday. The Romanian will face Victoria Azarenka in the last 16.

British hope Johanna Konta is into her first ever Wimbledon fourth round after her easy 6-4, 6-1 win against lower ranked Maria Sakkari.

French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko needed only an hour and 20 minutes to see off Italian Camila Giorgi 7-5 7-5 in the third round. The 20-year-old will face fourth-seeded Elina Svitolina in the next round.
