Yuki Bhambri beaten in Tashkent Challenger

The seventh seed lost 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 to Kamil Majchrzak of Poland in the pre-quarterfinals; he however made the doubles semifinal in partnership with Divij Sharan.

Seventh seed Yuki Bhambri was beaten 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 by Kamil Majchrzak of Poland in the pre-quarterfinals of the $125,000 men’s Challenger tennis tournament in Tashkent on Wednesday.

Yuki, however, made the doubles semifinals in partnership with Divij Sharan. In the Shanghai Masters ATP event, Rohan Bopanna in partnership with Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay was beaten in the double first round by Nick Kyrgios and Lucas Pouille 10-5 in the super tie-break. The loss meant no ATP point and a cheque of $12,100.

In the $25,000 ITF men’s Futures in Nigeria, Aryan Goveas stormed into the quarterfinals by blanking Chiristian Paul of Norway. Aryan and Jayesh Pungliya made the doubles quarterfinals.
