Tyson Fury won ruthlessly in Las Vegas on Saturday and then announced he will have one more fight before trying to set up a rematch with Deontay Wilder.
Fury, the self-anointed lineal heavyweight champion, maintained his unbeaten record with an impressive win over Tom Schwarz (24-1), taking just two rounds to stop the German at the MGM Grand.
It was Fury's first ring action since his draw with Wilder in Los Angeles last December.
The 30-year-old has been building towards a rematch with Wilder ever since that night in California, and it remains the firm objective.
But Fury is committed to one more tune-up before touching gloves again with the 33-year-old American.
"Either September 21 or October 5, I think I'm back in New York and we're going to have another fight, then we're going to hunt down Deontay Wilder," Fury told BT Sport.
Fury's TKO victory against Schwarz improved his record to 28-0-1, and it was a night on which he set out to entertain, firstly when recreating Apollo Creed's 'Living in America' entrance from the Rocky film franchise.
“Tonight I showed a little bit of speed, boxing skill, my ability to slip and slide out of the way of punches and also the ability to finish, which is important," Fury said.
Fury said American crowds had finally seen the best of him.
“I felt like this was my coming-out party," he said in a post-fight press conference.
"You saw me fight in December of last year. I had to lose 147 pounds for that fight [against Wilder] so I wasn't at my strongest or maybe I shouldn't have taken that fight as soon as I did after two bum fights coming back.
“This time I had enough training time, I was strong, I was fit, I was ready to put on a show. I'm active and I'm getting match-fit again."
Fury is unlikely to fight in Britain any time soon.
“I think my next few fights are definitely going to be in America. The foreseeable future is [in the] USA for sure," he said.
“I thought it went really well. I put on a show for the American fans. I was happy with everything that went on but it was only the start."
Fury belted out part of Aerosmith's 'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing' in the ring after his win, and in front of the press later he broke into Don McLean's 'American Pie'.
He added: “Tonight was Tyson Fury, Las Vegas. It doesn't get any bigger than this. This is the biggest thing that has happened in my career so far, topping the bill at MGM Grand.
"I was in the car on the way here with my wife and I said, 'I think we've made it, Paris'.
"She said, 'Why?', and I said, 'Because we're headlining in Vegas, this is it'.
"We got a good show and we were happy with how everything went. I enjoyed every minute of it. I enjoyed putting on a show."
