PWL 3 to commence in Jan, Greco-Roman grapplers to compete

The previous editions of PWL have witnessed a significant number of Olympians in action. Top Indian and international players are expected for the third edition as it would provide a good workout to the wrestlers ahead of the next Commonwealth and Asian Games.

The third edition of the Pro Wrestling League (PWL), starting early January next year, will see Greco-Roman grapplers in action for the first time.

The third edition of the Pro Wrestling League (PWL), starting early January next year, will see Greco-Roman grapplers in action for the first time, in addition to freestyle wrestling. The League might also feature innovations like neon clothing.

“Greco Roman style of wrestling was introduced in first summer Olympics of 1896 and India has a rich past at the international level with first significant performance (gold medal) at 1962, Jakarta Asian Games.

“Therefore, the inclusion of Olympic style Greco-Roman format is a historic move that will take it a notch above,” Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president, Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, said.
