Dilli Veer salvaged some pride by registering their first victory of the tournament with a narrow 4—3 win over Bengaluru Yodhas in their final round robin match of the inaugural Pro Wrestling League here today.
Delhi team, which had lost all their earlier matches, signed off the tournament with a win.
Bengaluru Yodhas, on the other hand, had already booked a berth in the semifinals and this loss did not matter much.
With scores tied at 3-3 today after six bouts, it went down to the last tie of the day to decide the winners and Dilli Veer’s Navruzov Ikhtiyor, World Championship silver medallist, got the better of Yodhas’ Bajrang 10-1 to give his side the maiden win of the tournament.
After Bengaluru captain Narsingh Yadav gave a 3-2 lead to his team, Dilli Veer skipper Vinesh Phogat restored parity to take the match to the decider.
Earlier, Dilli Veer’s Erdenebat Bekhbayar, World Championship bronze medallist, won the first bout 7—0 against Sandeep Tomar of Bengaluru Yodhas in men’s 57kg.
