World Wrestling Championships: Bajrang loses in repechage

India drew a blank at the event, with Parveen Rana (74kg) and Satyawart Kadian (97kg) ,and Amit Dhankar (70kg) losing their respective matches.

Asian champion and former Worlds bronze medallist Bajrag Punia lost in the repechage to crash out of the 65kg freestyle bronze medal race on the final day of World wrestling championships here on Saturday.

Bajrang beat German Alexander Semisorov 6-2 before losing to Zurabi Iabishivili of Georgia 6-5. Zurabi's entry into the final gave the Indian a second chance but he lost his repechage bout to Turkey's Mustafa Kaya 8-3.

Asian bronze medallist Parveen Rana (74kg) and Commonwealth Games silver medallist Satyawart Kadian (97kg) lost after winning their first round matches. Amit Dhankar (70kg) was beaten in the first round.
