Former Asian champion Sandeep Tomar lost his second repechage bout to get out of medal contention in 57kg freestyle category in the World wrestling championships on Friday.

Former Asian champion Sandeep Tomar lost his second repechage bout to get out of medal contention in 57kg freestyle category in the World wrestling championships here on Friday.

Tomar beat Zavur Uguev of Russia 8-2 before going down 14-1 against Yuki Takahashi of Japan in the next round. With Takahashi ensuring a place for himself in the final, Tomar qualified for the bronze medal race.

In repechage, Tomar won his first bout against Aso Palani of Canada 10-0 but lost to Bekhbayar Erdenebat of Mongolia 10-0.

Harphool (61kg), Deepak (86kg) and Sumit (125kg) lost in early rounds.
