Shilpi Sheoran could not make the most of her second ‘life’ as she lost in the women’s 63kg repechage round of the World wrestling championships here on Wednesday.
Shilpi, who was outsmarted by Orkhon Purevdorj in the first round, got into the repechage because of the Mongol wrestler’s entry into the final. However, Shilpi was comprehensively beaten (by fall) by Swedish Henna Johansson within 55 seconds in a repechage bout.
Pooja Dhanda (58kg) had a bright start as she pinned Sonia Baudin of France in 36 seconds. Pooja led 8-0 against Ningning Rong in the second round before the Chinese made a superb comeback to beat the Indian 12-8.
Lalita Sherawat (55kg) and Pooja Sihag (75kg) also exited in early rounds.
