Caroline Wozniacki comfortably beat Alize Cornet in the first round of the Eastbourne International as the former world number one builds pre-Wimbledon momentum.
Wozniacki spent the entire clay season out with an ankle injury, and had won just one of her first three games on grass - against Cagla Buyukakcay in Nottingham. Her injury absence and recent struggles mean Wozniacki is unlikely to receive a seeding at the All-England Club, but she put that aside to beat Cornet 6-1 6-3 on England's south coast.
Seventh seed Sam Stosur awaits in the next round for Wozniacki.
Kristina Mladenovic made the Rosmalen Tennis Championships final two weeks ago and got back on track with a 7-6 (8-6) 6-4 win over Yanina Wickmayer, having lost to Sabine Lisicki in the first round at Mallorca.
Timea Babos and Jelena Ostapenko were winners in Sunday's other first-round matches.
