Anirudh hopes Suresh Raina makes India's World Cup 2019 squad

Can Suresh Raina make a surprise return to the national team and be part of India's World Cup 2019 squad?

India walks into the 2019 World Cup as a favourite especially after how it defeated Australia in its own land. But going into the World Cup, India would like to sort out a few issues.

One of the biggest issues for India at this point is the middle-order corundum. So, the question is, who should bat at number 5 for India in the 2019 World Cup to be played in England and Wales.

As a fan, I would like to have Suresh Raina in the squad. With extraordinary openers, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan followed by skipper Kohli at No.3, India has a solid top order. It will be great if Raina comes in as he has the experience to anchor the innings.

Raina is amply experienced and no other contender in the middle order challenges him when it comes to experience and also has the experience of bailing the team out of trouble.

At No. 4 or 5, Raina can stabilise the innings in the middle order along with M. S. Dhoni. He can change gears swiftly and play in the manner the team wants him to and we have seen Raina winning matches for India. A left-hander in the middle order would suit India perfectly. Raina also can contribute in the field with his athleticism. Raina can also chip in with a few overs whenever needed.

If not Raina, I hope Dinesh Karthik comes into the picture. Now it's all in the hands of selectors and Ravi bhai.
