India reaches final stage of World Junior Mixed Team C’ship

Indian colts continued their rampaging run and reached the final stage of the BWF World Junior mixed team championship after thrashing France 3-0 in their playoff group G1 match on Friday.

Indian colts continued their rampaging run and reached the final stage of the BWF World Junior mixed team championship after thrashing France 3-0 in their playoff group G1 match here on Friday.

Mahima Aggarwal and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy put India 1-0 ahead when they defeated Delphine Delrue and Thom Gicquel 21-14, 23-21 in a 36-minute mixed doubles clash. Lakshya Sen then took the court and edged out Toma Junior Popov 21-16, 23-21 in a men’s singles match that lasted 42 minutes at the Bilbao Arena.

In the women’s singles match, Aakarshi Kashyap rallied her way after a game down to eke out a 23-25, 21-15, 21-12 win over Yaelle Hoyaux in a gruelling contest that lasted 57 minutes.

India, which had defeated Bulgaria and Finland on Thursday to reach the playoff stage, will next take on Thailand.
