New Zealand has been fined for slow over-rate after its thrilling five-run win over West Indies in a World Cup fixture in Manchester.

New Zealand has been fined for slow over-rate after its thrilling five-run win over West Indies in a World Cup fixture in Manchester on Saturday.

David Boon, match referee imposed the fine after Kane Williamson-led side was found to be one over short of the allotted time.

Williamson, being the captain has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee and the other Kiwi players 10 per cent. Williamson pleaded guilty to the offence after the end of the match and accepted the proposed sanction.

After put in to bat, Williamson century led New Zealand to 291/8 and Carlos Brathwaite's 101 almost got the Windies over the line.
