West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee named Ganguly as new Cricket Association of Bengal President.

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly will replace the late Jagmohan Dalmiya as the president of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).

According to espncricinfo.com, Ms. Banerjee announced that the association's senior officials had taken the decision. Abhishek Dalmiya, Jagmohan’s son will take Ganguly’s place as the secretary of the association.

The governing body of the CAB haven’t approved the move yet but that’s just a mere formality, as Ms. Banerjee seems to have given her nod.

Ganguly has been joint secretary of the CAB from July 2014. He has been involved in several administative roles in the Board including being a member of the three-man cricket advisory committee along with his teammates Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman and also is a part of the IPL Governing Council.

Ganguly will probably control two votes in the East Zone (those of the CAB and the National Cricket Club), Cricinfo reported.
