Chief selector M.S.K. Prasad hinted that Kohli could be given a break during the Sri Lanka series to manage his workload. “As far as the Test series is concerned, he is going to play. At some point of time, the rotation policy that we are following will apply to the captain,” Prasad said. “We are also monitoring his workload. He has been playing continuously right from IPL till today, we need to give him a break which we will consider after the Test series.”

Kohli wore the mantle of Test captaincy in December 2014 and has been the limited-overs skipper ever since M.S. Dhoni stepped down earlier this year.

On Sunday, the 28-year-old smashed his 31st ODI hundred (against New Zealand) to surpass Ricky Ponting i n the most number of ODI tons (30) list, next only to Sachin Tendulkar (49).
