Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Dinesh Karthik, who has been picked in India’s World Cup squad, feels workload management in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is about managing oneself off the field than on it.

Ahead of KKR’s home match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) here, Karthik said skipping matches in the IPL was not the solution.

“I don’t think you should leave it at the hands of the players to pick and choose matches. It's not the match that's the problem because if you take a fast bowler he bowls four overs. A bowler on most days will bowl 25-30 balls and field.

“The key is the time between two matches. Those are the kind of things you should be aware of as a player - be it recovery or hitting a gym or having discipline or what you are putting into your mouth. Those are the things that matter. If you look after these things you should be okay,” said Karthik.

The KKR skipper said the selection of the World Cup squad finished the anxiety.

“Now that the team has been picked all those have been part of team have been announced, the focus back on IPL. I think everything is back on track," said Karthik.
