Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman, Rajeev Shukla, on Wednesday confirmed that Chennai Super Kings' home fixtures, to be held in Chennai, have now been shifted out of the state.

"Given the prevailing situation in Chennai, we have decided to move the games out," Shukla told  Sportstar .

The decision comes a day after the protesters hurled shoes at players during the fixture between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. With protests over Cauvery water sharing issue escalating, the Chennai franchise officials held meetings with the city police officials and it was advised that the games be taken out of Chennai due to security concerns.

"We are working on the alternative venue and a decision will be taken by Thursday," Shukla said, rubbishing claims that Visakhapatnam has already been allotted the match. "The decision has not been taken yet. We are working on a few things," he added.

Though the IPL chairman did not divulge details about the alternative venues,  Sportstar  has learnt that Visakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, Pune and Lucknow are being considered as the options.

Meanwhile, CSK CEO, Kasi Viswanathan, met the commissioner of police in Chennai to discuss about the issue. "The commissioner of police has told us that based on prevailing conditions we may reschedule the matches in Chennai. That's what they have told us. We have informed the same to the BCCI. It is up to the BCCI to do whatever they want and inform us about what to be done," Viswanathan, told  Sportstar  after the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Cricket Association president Dr.G. Vivekanand said that they had written to the chairman of the IPL that they were willing to host CSK matches in Hyderabad. "We are hopeful of a positive response given the successful way we have been conducting the IPL matches,"he said.
