Wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran celebrated his inclusion in West Indies' 15-man World Cup squad with a quickfire 46 off 28 balls against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday night.

Pooran smacked five sixes and a four during his whirlwind knock including three maximums off one Washington Sundar over.

The 23-year-old Trinidad batsman has played 11 T20Is and one ODI for West Indies so far.

The southpaw smashed his maiden T20I half-century — an unbeaten 25-ball 53 — in the third and final rubber against India at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in November last year.

Three years ago, a road accident in Trinidad almost finished Pooran’s cricket career. He had sustained injuries to his knees and ankle. But the Caribbean is now all set to feature in his maiden World Cup.
