Anirban Lahiri will tee-off with World No. 1 Jordan Spieth on Thursday at the USD3.5 million Hero World Challenge in Albany. Few of the top golfers in the world are taking part in the meet.

After being drafted into the 18-player invitational field following his stupendous showings this year, Lahiri will get a rare opportunity to test his skills against the 22-year old defending champion and the winner of this year’s Masters and the U. S. Open.

The event invites winners of all four majors, 11 available players as per world rankings and two special exemptions. This year, Lahiri and USA’s Bill Hass, ranked 39 and 43, were offered exemptions.

“I think wind is going to come into play here,” said Lahiri, looking at the open course on Monday evening. “I am looking forward to play a practice round tomorrow (a day before the pro-am on Wednesday). Obviously, I don’t want to make a fool of myself (when playing alongside Spieth),”

This year’s field, based on World rankings, are: Jordan Speith (US, 1), Bubba Watson (US, 4), Justin Rose (England, 5), Rickie Fowler (US, 6), Dustin Johnson (US, 8), Adam Scott (Australia, 10), Zach Johnson (US, 11), Patrick Reed (US, 13), Hideki Matusyama (Japan, 14), Brooks Koepka (US, 17), Matt Kuchar (US, 19), J. B. Holmes (US, 23), Paul Casey (England 24), Jimmy Walker (US, 25), Billy Horschel (US, 26), Anirban Lahiri (India, 39), Chris Kirk (US, 41) and Bill Hass (US, 43).
