THE HOOTER GOES. And India crashes out of the World Cup. Netherlands progresses to the semifinals where it will face two-time defending champion Australia.

54' Chinglensana wins a penalty corner after Sander Baart cluttered into him. All eyes on Harmanpreet Singh. Pirmin Blaak pulls of a good save and sets the Dutch on the counter but they are slow to attack. Good move by them to take the tempo out of the game and calm things down.

53' Amit gets a yellow card for a foul on Pruijser. India will now play with a man down for five minutes. Not the best of times for him to lose his cool.

51' India gets more aggressive in its play now.

50' Netherlands wins a penalty corner at the other end. And Netherlands takes the lead! Mink van der Weerden wit the goal.

48' Simranjeet on a fantastic run into the circle but his pass isn't converted. He had put that on a platter for his teammates but no one could get their stick to turn it in. He is visibly disappointed, so is coach Harendra.

47' Netherlands thought it too the lead but India has asked for a video referral. Manpreet was the one who asked for the referral and he was right. The ball hit a Dutch leg in the build up and the score stays 1-1. And India keeps its referral.

46' de Voogb wins a free hit outside the Indian circle. But the attack goes nowhere and the possession is recycled to the Dutch defenders.

45' An entertaining third quarter comes to an end with both teams still locked at 1-1.  Will there be a goal in the fourth quarter or will we have the first shootout of the quarterfinals?

43' Brinkman is at the thick of things here. Seconds after giving away a foul, he wins one at the other end. But both teams have done well to defend in numbers.

42' It has been a tight quarter with both teams carving out good chances. It's looking more and more likely that one more goal could settle this tie.

41' The referee has seen enough and Hardik Singh picks up a green card.

39' A ball across the face of the goal from Pruijser isn't turned into the goal by two Dutch players. The Indian defenders and keeper were nowhere on that pass.

37' Lucky break for India. Surender with a lovely aerial pass to Lalit, whose pass is one step behind Dilpreet Singh.  If the pass found its intended target, it was a one-on-one situation there with the Dutch keeper.

STAT Netherlands with 61% of the possession in this quarter so far.

35' Simranjeet's stick clatters into a Dutch leg and he is lucky to not pick up a card there.

34' And at the other end Bakker wins the Dutch a penalty corner. Amit Rohidas closes down van der Weerden but gives away another penalty corner. The referee gives Netherlands a third penalty but Amit, who was adjudged to gave conceded it again, disagrees and asks for a video referral. Very good call from Akashdeep. The ball hits his knee and not his foot. India keeps its referral and the penalty corner is taken away from Netherlands.

33' Akashdeep gets at the end of a diagonal pass but his tomahawk goes well over the goal.

32' India wins a free hit after a foul on Sumit. And India wins a long corner from that attack.

32' Netherlands wins a penalty corner. Mink van der Weerden takes it but Indian does well to thwart the threat.

31' India gets the second half going.

The first half comes to an end with both teams on level terms. India took the lead but Netherlands scored immediately after, at the end of the first quarter. It has been a tight game so far, scrappy sometimes. Who can get the next goal?

30' Netherlands on a counter-attack through Seve van Ass but he loses the ball in the middle of the pitch.

28' Surender Kumar is whacked on his leg by Bob de Voogd and he picks up a green card for that. Netherlands will play the remaining minutes of the second quarter with 10 men.

27' Billy Bakker gets to the end of a long pass but the ball is stolen off his stick before he could turn and pass.

26' Chinglensana Kangujam's run is stopped on the left wing but India regains possession. Sustained spell of possession around the Dutch circle for India.

24' At the other end end, Manpreet's shot is well saved before the deflection is shot into the side of the goal.

23' Brinkman's run into the circle is stopped by a clean tackle from Varun Kumar.

19' India has been pegged back at the end of the first quarter and the Dutch has retained the upper hand in the second.

18' Joep de Mol, in his first game of this World Cup, does well to stop an Indian counter-attack.

17' That goal has put some belief into the Dutch team. Passes are more sharp and quicker in this quarter.

15' Netherlands players are celebrating. Thierry Brinkman is celebrating and the ball is in the back of the net but the referee has gone for a video referral. And the goal stands! Netherlands gets its equaliser. Brinkman deflects a shot from outside the circle into the goal. And with that, the first quarter comes to an end.

9' It has been a scrappy start to this game with both teams alternating the possession and the attacks.

6' There's a Dutch player on Manpreet every time he's in possession. Looks like special instructions from Caldas to contain the threat of the Indian captain.

4' Sloppy passes from the home team in the opening minutes. Either too long or too short.

The crowd is in strong voice in support of the home team.

3' Lalit Upadhyay draws some cheers from the crowd with a bit of skill on the edge of the Dutch circle.

2' Simranjeet Singh gets into the Dutch circle but the referee saw an infringement in the build-up and stops that run.

• A lot of praise India is getting now is thanks to its coach Harendra Singh, who has made India defensively sound, while being more aggressive in its approach. Here's how this India side has shaped up  in it's journey to the World Cup and in the tournament.

• The Indian team is filled with stars but one player, in particular, has caught everyone's attention — 23-year-old Varun Kumar, the man of the match against Belgium. We spoke to him  about his rise from the junior to senior ranks and more.

• Putting the upcoming match to a side, have you heard of Tony Fernandes? The 82-year old, based in France, is someone whom several Indians, from Dhanraj Pillay to Jude Felix, Ferreira, Shakeel Ahmed and Harendra consider having a lasting influence on them, both on and off the field. • Since we are talking about Harendra Singh, here's something interesting. The man, unlike other coaches, doesn't hold back when analysing his team's performance in the mid-game TV interview. He seems to be happy with laying out his cards on the table for the world to see. Is he pulling a fast one or is it a double bluff?

• Coach Singh had earlier said  that "the quarterfinals decide whether you get a medal or bow out of the race, and if we go past that, India wouldn’t look back." And we are here, in the quarterfinals. One step towards glory or the end of India's dreams? We'll know soon.
