Vikas Thakur betters the national record in weightlifting

Vikas created the record in all three events. He lifted 154kg in the snatch and 187kg in clean and jerk to come up with a total lift of 341kg. He bettered his record of 339kg (153kg snatch and 186kg clean and jerk), which he achieved during National Games earlier this year.

Vikas Thakur bettered his own bettered his record of 339kg he achieved during the National Games.

Vikas Thakur of Services Sports Control Board today created a national record with a total lift of 341kg in the in the 85kg category at the National Weightlifting Championships, here.

Vikas created the record in all three events—snatch, clean and jerk, and overall.

He lifted 154kg in the snatch and 187kg in clean and jerk to come up with a total lift of 341kg.

Vikas thus bettered his record of 339kg (153kg snatch and 186kg clean and jerk) which he achieved during 35th National Games at Kerala earlier this year.

Harshad Wasdekar of Maharashtra finished second, way behind Vikas with a total lift of 305kg (136 snatch, 169 clean and jerk) while Haryana’s Subham secured the third spot lifting 302kg (131 snatch, 171 clean and jerk).
