Confident Manavjit, Mairaj ready for Shotgun World Cup

It will be back to the grind for the senior shooters who will be tuning themselves for the Asian Games and the World Championship.

The best Indian team, spearheaded by seasoned shooters like former World Champion Manavjit Singh Sandhu and Mairaj Ahmad Khan will be competing in the Shotgun World Cup in Tucson, US, from Wednesday.

After the trial by fire in the last World Cup, when the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) opted to preserve the seniors in a demanding season and fielded a raw junior team, with startling results in Malta last month, it will be back to the grind for the seniors who will be tuning themselves for the Asian Games and the World Championship.

Competition will start with skeet and move to trap, and the mixed event, the additional Olympic event in trap.

Since double trap has been dropped from the Olympic schedule in the Tokyo Games in 2020, there will be no double trap event in this World Cup, even though it would continue to be part of the World Championship.
