Sania-Peng pair falls in Wuhan Open semis

Sania Mirza and Shuai Peng were beaten 7-6(5), 6-4 by the top seeds Yung-Jan Chan of Chinese Taipei and Martina Hingis of Switzerland.

Sania Mirza and Shuai Peng lost their semifinal game.

Sania Mirza returned to the professional circuit after the US Open by reaching the doubles semifinals of the Wuhan Open in China with Shuai Peng. But she was beaten 7-6(5), 6-4 by the top seeds Yung-Jan Chan of Chinese Taipei and Martina Hingis of Switzerland on Friday. The semifinal entry was worth 350 WTA points and $34,880 for the Indo-Chinese pair. In the ITF women’s event in Thailand, qualifier Pranjala Yadlapalli was beaten in the semifinals by second seed Jacqueline Cako of the US. In the $25,000 ITF women’s event in the US, Karman Kaur Thandi made the singles quarterfinals but was beaten in the doubles in partnership with Daneika Borthwick of Britain. Kanika Vaidya had made the singles quarterfinals and doubles semifinals in Egypt, in a $15,000 event.
