World Archery C'ships: Indian women clinch bronze

India's compound archery team defeats Turkey to claim the bronze medal in 's-Hertogenbosch.

India's women's compound archery team has won the bronze medal at the World Archery Championships being held at 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.

It defeated Turkey 229-226, ensuring perfect final three arrows in the contest.

India's team of Muskan Kirar, Raj Kaur and Jyothi Surekha Vennam beat Turkey's Yesim Bostan, Gizem Elmaagacli, and Ipek Tomruk.

It was a nip-and-tuck contest, Turkey having the upper hand after the first of four rounds. It scored 57, and India managed 55. The tables turned in the second round, India leading 113-110 by scoring 58; Turkey managed just 53. India maintained this lead right till the end, both teams scoring 58 points in the last two rounds.

Earlier in the week, the Indian men's recurve team defeated Netherlands in the semifinal. It takes on China in the final on Sunday.
