Prannoy enters summit clash, Saina out

Prannoy defeated Chinese Taipei's Tzu Wei Wang 12-21, 21-14, 23-21 in the men's semifinal of the Swiss Open, but Saina wasn't that lucky as she lost her semifinal clash to China's third seed Wang Yihan 21-11, 21-19.

H.S Prannoy rallied to beat Chinese Taipei's Tzu Wei Wang in 56 minutes and enter the men’s singles final at the Swiss Open in Basel on Saturday.

It was however the end of Saina Nehwal’s campaign in the $120,000 Grand Prix Gold event. The top seeded Indian lost her semifinal match against China's third seed Wang Yihan 21-11, 21-19 in the women's event.

Prannoy, seeded 13th, had a disappointing start in the semifinal and lost the first game 12-21. He however came back strongly to capture the second game 21-14 and then prevailed 23-21 in a tense third game.

The Indian will face the winner of the match between Germany's Marc Zwiebler and Sweden's Henri Hurskainen.
