P.V. Sindhu becomes World No. 2

Sindhu jumped three places to be ranked a career-high No. 2 in the world.

P.V. Sindhu has attained a career-high ranking of World No. 2, according to the list released by Badminton World Federation on Thursday.

Sindhu jumped three places after her India Open Super Series victory last week. China’s Tai Tzu Ying and Spain’s Carolina Marin however retained their No. 1 and No. 3 rankings respectively.

India’s Saina Nehwal, who lost to Sindhu in the quarterfinal of the India Open Superseries, dropped a place to be ranked No. 9 in the world.

Ajay Jayaram, the only Indian to have survived the first round at the Malaysia Open this week, is the best placed Indian in the men’s rankings at No. 20. H.S. Prannoy, Sameer Verma and Kidambi Srikanth occupy the 26th, 27th and 28th place respectively.
