Hetmyer, though, was out off the very next ball he faced; Mustafizur Rahman snapping him up with a slower ball. Hetmyer also crossed a 1000 ODI runs and now holds the record for the third fastest half-century by a West Indian in the history of the quadrennial event.

Earlier in the tournament, Australia wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey had whacked the fastest fifty in this edition — also the quickest by an Australian in World Cup — against India. Carey struck an unbeaten 55, studded with five fours and a maximum.
