Tillakaratne named Sri Lanka's temporary batting coach: reports

The 50-year-old, who also donned the hat of a national selector between 2013 -2015 , is expected to remain with the side at least till the end of the three Tests.

Tillakaratne represented Sri Lanka in 83 Tests and 200 ODIs, and has over 8000 international runs under his belt.

Hashan Tillakaratne has joined the Sri Lankan team as  temporary batting coach for the upcoming Test series against India. The 50-year-old, who also donned the hat of a national selector between 2013 -2015 , is expected to remain with the side at least till the end of the three Tests.

Tillakaratne represented Sri Lanka in 83 Tests and 200 ODIs, and has over 8000 international runs under his belt. The island nation, which is currently seventh in the ICC Test rankings, would be hoping to draw from the vast experience of its new batting coach, ahead of the contest against Virat Kohli-led India. 

The first Test gets underway from July 26 at Galle International stadium.
