Kapil Dev said the pitches should be favourable to the home team.

Kapil was here today to launch a seven-a-side cricket tournament involving all the districts of Rajasthan. The tournament will be held over four weekends, culminating on January 10, 2016. He interacted with the media on various issues after the launch.

The former Indian captain, who recently made controversial remarks on Sachin Tendulkar, added “I enjoy watching both these players perform. Let them play, why compare? One day the son will also become a father.”

Asked to comment on Sunil Gavaskar’s plea to resume cricketing ties between India and Pakistan, Kapil said, “I am with the government on this issue. Whatever is the government policy (on the subject), I will support that.”

He supported Ravi Shastri for criticizing Wankhede’s pitch curator following India’s massive defeat in the fifth One-Day International in Mumbai. “I feel the home team should get a favourable pitch. If you play in South Africa, do you think Indians will get a pitch to their liking?” he asked.

“I think the team which plays better cricket will win,” answered Kapil when he was asked for his views on the upcoming India-South Africa test series.

With a section of the media persisting with questions on his recent comments on Sachin, Kapil curtly replied, “You trust your understanding and write whatever you think is right.”
