WICB, CSA confirm backing for ICC governance and revenue model changes

West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) will back the changes in ICC’s governance and revenue model discussed at the International Cricket Council (ICC) Board meeting in February, its president Dave Cameron has said. The board had supported the changes in that meeting. Responding to the WICB position following Shashank Manokar’s decision to quit as chairman of the ICC, Cameron said via email: “Our position remains the same.”

Cricket South Africa has also approved of these changes, its president Chris Nenzani confirmed.

After receiving a 7-2 support to the changes in constitution and financial model, the ICC has offered an opportunity to make suggestions before the April meeting. Zimbabwe Cricket’s Tavengwa Mukuklani had abstained from voting in February because he was in not favour of the relegation rule should any full member (Test playing nation) be declared bankrupt or for cricketing reasons.

It’s possible that Zimbabwe Cricket may be asked to write to the ICC that the relegation rule should not apply to any of the present 10 full members and that it should apply only to the new full members. The ICC is considering admitting Afghanistan and Ireland as full members.
