Ever since IPL's inception in 2008, Shah Rukh Khan has been a pro-active owner, making his presence felt in almost all of his side's matches.

Shah Rukh Khan cheering for Kolkata Knight Riders from the stands has become a common sight at the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the years. In every season, the Bollywood superstar makes it a point to be present for most of his team’s matches. But the script could change this time around.

While the franchise officials remain tight-lipped on the matter, Sportstar has reliably learned that with the Knights’ principal owner set to begin shooting for his new film in the U.S, Shah Rukh is likely to miss out on most of the IPL fixtures.

“He is shooting a film and the schedule has been really crazy,” a highly reliable source, who is aware of the development, said.

After parting ways with its long-time skipper Gautam Gambhir, the Kolkata franchise has gone for an overhaul this season, so the efforts are on to ‘at least bring Shah Rukh for a couple of games’ to keep the fan base intact.

“A part of the film’s shooting is scheduled in the U.S. We are trying to finalise the dates and everything so that he can at least catch a few games,” the source said, quickly adding, “But it is unlikely that he will be there for all the games. That’s for sure.”

Ever since IPL's inception in 2008, Shah Rukh Khan has been a pro-active owner, making his presence felt in almost all of his side's matches. Not just in Kolkata, the veteran actor has also travelled to the other venues to ensure that his boys get enough support from his side.

Even though he could be there for a couple of games in the initial stage, KKR fans will mostly miss Shah Rukh as the IPL progresses this season. But then, as the source points out, he will always be active on social media to cheer for the Knights.
