Mayank Agarwal smashed a brilliant double hundred against the visiting South Africa A side.

Despite a spectacular 2017-18 season, where he amassed over 2000 runs across formats, there was no India call-up for Mayank Agarwal.

The Karnataka cricketer has begun this season in similarly rich form, scoring three List-A centuries in England to go with a flawless 251-ball 220 recorded against South Africa A.

The 27-year-old explained that he does not worry himself with things that are not in his control.

“Whatever has to happen will happen, and I’m just happy that I’m batting well. We (India A) have so many games coming up, so I have to stay in the present, rather than think about other things,” Mayank said on Monday.

The opener did suffer a setback earlier this year, when he failed to score big in the Indian Premier League.

In the 11 matches he played for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Mayank scored only 120 runs. The IPL failure does not trouble Mayank, who is happy to point to the bigger picture.

“I look at the IPL as a one-off tournament that didn’t go my way. If I look at the season as a whole, I did well in four out of five tournaments. I’ll happily take that,” Mayank said.
