A couple of days ago, there were reports that M. S. Dhoni will feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy knockouts for Jharkhand.

But on Saturday, Jharkhand coach, Rajiv Kumar, has confirmed to Sportstar that the erstwhile India captain will miss out on the knockout stage.

“He has to report to Hyderabad on October 16 for the One-dayers camp and that’s the reason, he will not be available for the knockout stage fixtures. That’s what we have been told,” Kumar said.

Dhoni, who last featured in the Asia Cup, wasn’t available for the domestic tournaments for Jharkhand and a couple of days ago, it was reported that he will make himself available for the Vijay Hazare Trophy knockouts. But the coach made it clear that side his state team will miss his services.

Jharkhand plays Maharashtra in a Vijay Hazare Trophy quarterfinals fixture in Bengaluru on October 15.

A couple of days ago, chairman of national selection committee, MSK Prasad, had told reporters in Hyderabad that Dhoni will be featuring in the knock-outs. "Dhoni is playing the knock-outs. About Ambati Rayudu, I will check and get back," Prasad had said.

But Jharkhand State Cricket Association's secretary, Debasish Chakraborty, also confirmed to this publication that the association hadn't heard of Dhoni playing in the knockout stage of Vijay Hazare Trophy.
